About

My name is Lilah, welcome to Certain Thought! This site documents one woman’s journey to wellness through various integrative and holistic healing modalities.

At the age of 16, I was diagnosed with multiple chronic illnesses and pain disorders including fibromyalgia, arthritis, SI joint dysfunction, and IBS in addition to my preexisting asthma and numerous food and environmental allergies. My friends lovingly joke that they need to put me in a bubble to protect me from all my allergies! Many of the doctors I saw could not tell me why I was constantly exhausted and in pain, and those who did diagnose me suggested harsh medications with side effects worse than my symptoms. I was diagnosed during my senior year of high school, at that time my health was so poor, my doctors and parents insisted that I postpone my graduation and defer attending university. Those were not options for me and I stubbornly finished my senior year, graduating second in my class with scholarships to multiple universities, and in the Fall I started university with a full course load. It has not been easy navigating university, I have good days and bad days, but without many of the alternative therapies (under the supervision of my doctors, of course), I do not believe I would have been able to come this far, and I still recognize I have a long way to go. I hope sharing my experiences will help others in similar situations on their own journey to wellness.

During my time at university I found a wonderful Functional Medicine physician who helped me reduce my symptoms where most of my “traditional” doctors had little success. This experience lead me to learn more about Functional and Evidenced-Based Integrative Medicine. During a leave of absence from school due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I learned about health coaching and decided I wanted to help others with chronic illnesses like me who are struggling to find their path to wellness. I enrolled in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA), and a year later gained my Functional Medicine Health Coaching Certification (FMCHC) and became a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). Working with my clients has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my life. Whether you decide to take the plunge and book a health coaching session with me, or you are just browsing, I hope you find something helpful from my experiences.

With Healing Thoughts,

Lilah
